Sometimes people just weren’t cut out for some of the more ruthless cities of the world. Noah just so happened to be one of those people. His entire life was spent taking care of his mom and his little sister in the San Francisco home his mom worked two jobs to keep. It was only right that he too got a part time job for the times after school. It wasn’t like school was hard for him, actually he excelled at pretty much every course it was almost sad. Not like he was about to complain really. More often than not people liked to use him for his abilities and it was usually pretty hard for him to say no. The only thing he kept to himself was his skill with the guitar. One of his most enjoyable secrets he could remember the days when he would sing a lullaby to his little sister when their mom was working the night shift. He always found ways to take care of them. When he learned about a talent show at a college that would pay a five hundred dollar cash prize he wasn’t about to pass up that chance. His mother had always said that every time a door was closed, god opened a window. Over his life so many doors had been shut in his face but he worked so hard to find that window. Performing a Santana song he knew by heart was easy and winning the money was all in the bag. What he hadn’t been prepared for was the random scout that had been hidden within the crowd. West McKinley on a scholarship. No way.

Sometimes it was hard being the most talented person around you. Even if your views of yourself just so happened to be slightly warped. Tina has a particular skill that no one around her could beat her at. Cheering and stunts was something she was always good at, it probably had something to do with the fact that she never really knew enough to know that yeah, your body wasn’t supposed to do that. Being raised in Beverly hills definitely gave her a fantastic fashion sense and the ability to shop like no other around her. Catching sights of celebrities was nothing. This one time she had a conversation with Paris hilton over what the perfect top would be and didn’t even realize it till they walked out of the store and paparazzi started screaming her name. It made total sense for why the top was so hot. Just because she forgot a lot of things and really didn’t remember where her keys were half the time didn’t mean she was completely stupid. She knew what 2+2 was. Sometimes her lack of social filter caused her to have a little bit of a sharper tongue than those around her. It wasn’t that she meant to be mean because people were the ones that took it like she was being mean. It was the skills on the competition mat that had scouts setting their eyes on her and her decent grades were enough as long as she found herself a tutor to bring them up when she got to the school. So goodbye Rodeo Drive and hello West McKinley.

It was a tight knit family that Santana was born into. In the sweltering heat of Miami, Florida her family always joked about being from the original Spanish settlers. Of course she looked back into her family history and knew it wasn’t true but it always made her smile. There was nothing more comfortable to her than watching her family laugh and play around at a summer barbecue as she buried her nose in a book and lost herself in the world of classical literature. It was her love for books that made her Madre wish for her to really get into writing and english literature. It was easy for her to excel at something that she knew so well. Never once would a person catch her without her nose stuck in a book or a soft smile on her face when she was writing something. To call her the quiet girl would be an understatement. Her calm sweetness always made it difficult for people to make fun of her or even raise a cruel words towards her. Especially when she was always so willing to help others excel. It was a surprise when one of her poems caught the interest of someone at the Academy when it ended up going to a national level competition. Soon enough it was a tearful goodbye and a promise to keep in touch with her family that found her at West McKinley to pursue a dream she always thought was just that. Some wonderful dream.

Most things in the world didn’t make any sense to the seventeen year old anymore. For Brittany everything always seemed to go wrong. From her mother dying when she was twelve to her father ending up in a horrible car accident when she was fifteen. After being sent to live with her aunt and uncle she shut herself off from the love around her. Everything seemed to be lined up against the young girl from the Bronx. The only thing that stayed with her constantly was her love for dancing. Never classically trained it was all about the feel and the rhythm for the blonde. Instinct and the love for it all. With everything stacked against her she snapped at everyone around her and found herself in more than enough trouble to make people shy away from her just as she walked down the street. It didn’t matter. The people around her didn’t matter, not until she heard about an insane scholarship that would take her to the whole other side of the country if she was good enough for it. Weeks of practice, weeks of getting her grades up and suddenly she was accepted to the prestigious West Mckinley Academy. All she wanted to do was dance. Forget everything else around her and just dance.

Mike Chang is no stranger to the expectations of the world around him. Being born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts his family planted their roots down years ago and have seen no reason to move since. With such a large family you would think there would be diversity when it comes to degrees but that is not something you would find in the Chang family. Medical degrees of some kind litter their family tree and Mike sees no reason to change that. Every year he pushes himself to be the best and getting the best grades one can possibly get. Dedication and persistence would be some of his top qualities. He was the one that found West McKinley Academy. He was the one that showed his parents how perfect the school would be for him and how more than 40% of their top achieving students get taken in by Ivy League school all around the country. In no time his was accepted, packed and on his way to the school that would make all his dreams come true. All of his hard work would pay off and be worth it in the end. As long as he didn’t let any distractions get in his way.

A New Jersey native Kurt Hummel was shipped off to West Mckinley at the tender age of fourteen. After his mother died when he was seven Kurt was raised by his father. A auto mechanic with a heart of gold. He loved his son and accepted all that came with being the father of a rather flamboyant boy. Kurt has always been the little charmer. A smooth smile here and a compliment there. He has always had a knack for getting what he wanted. A talent that keep him rather popular with the kids of his old school. It was never really a surprise to Burt Hummel that his son was gay. Something the boy proclaimed to his good old dad when he was twelve. It’s a subject that is completely open in their home. Burt accepts it and has even taken his own steps to understand what his son has to face in the world. Kurt’s love for boys wasn’t the only thing that was noticed at an early age. He also showed a big interest in musical theater. Earning himself plenty of awards by the time he was in his early teens. That is how he finds himself across the country at West Mckinley. After winning a community singing contest. Kurt was offered a full scholarship to the school. To help nurture his talent. At first it wasn’t quite okay with Burt but after some convincing on the boys part he got his way. Now a Junior Kurt has found his place among the stars of the school. With talent often rivals his biggest competition Rachel Berry. The boy has big dreams and has a knack for charming his way into them.

It was the classic tale that one had heard over and over again. Money, access and the ability to have anything anyone wanted always seemed to ruin a person’s life. Oh but was it really so? Some people thrived on the life they were given on a silver platter. Of course other’s didn’t have that life, they didn’t have everything they wanted waiting for them to take it. West McKinley houses both sides of the world. Problem is, both sides don’t always get along. Within the halls of the lavish school nothing but lies and deceit cover the floor and more often than not you can not tell who is friend or foe. Can you really trust the smiling face of people that are nothing like you? Who knows, maybe your best friend is actually just waiting to trip you down the stairs.

West McKinley Academy is a world where all your favorite glee characters aren’t quite themselves. Quinn Fabray is the Quirky Wall flower and Rachel Berry is the resident Ice Queen. When the roles are reversed who will come out on top. only time will tell.

Writing Sample (Two well developed paragraph min, IC is preferred but not required):It’s said that the average male adult should sleep about ten hours a night to maintain a healthy sleeping schedule. This was not a problem for one Everett Anderson. He slept more than any human being he’d ever known. Even when he wasn’t sleeping just laying on a bed and reading the day away was so appealing. Things blew up the other day, every one was in each other’s business and yelling at Charlie. That was when he decided to become more involved in his friends’s life. He hated the idea of anyone yelling at his friend without him being there to defend them. He had often snapped at anyone who said anything derogatory toward his fellow misfits, they were his people. Lately he was having trouble escaping from another group of people, his siblings. It wasn’t that he didn’t love Avery and Blaine. It was just that as far as dramatic they gave Shakespeare a run for his money. And they loved to sweep things under rugs, whereas Ev preferred flapping the blankets to create waves.
Everett was so excited to be hanging out with Adah. Most people in the school found her too shy and quiet. But he found his lady so understated and wonderful. Like a locked box that kept the secrets to life. He extracted himself from his warm bed and changed clothes as so not to smell, that would be terribly rude, he was an Anderson after all. Etiquette was in his enzymes. A loud plea came from his stomach begging for food, and he was grateful,once again, that Adah was the nicest person in the world and was preparing a meal for him. Whistling a tune, he let himself out of his dorm and began to walk down the hall; whistling the song from Pretty Woman, a movie he’d been investing a lost of his time in.

As he started down the familiar path to the kitchen he realized someone was in there singing a Sara Bareilles, clear as a bell and in perfect pitch. Figuring he’d beaten Adah there, he went to see who the mystery singer was. Everett was shocked to discover that the owner of that soprano voice, was his best friend. Adah was dancing around, cooking, and singing in a voice that was nearly as good as Rachel’s. Not wanting to interrupt this lovely impromptu performance, he hid behind the wall and let his ears soak in Adah’s voice. When he was positive she had finished, Ev leaned against the door raising his eyebrows at the girl. “Were you going to keep mum on the fact that you can sing better than half the people here?” He asked, an expectant expression on his face.
